Back Yard Butterflies and Moths
by
Kenneth Fuller
2005

Here are some of the Lepidoptera (butterflies and moths) which I have been able to identify in my own yard over the years.  When possible, I have included all the life stages, egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, and adult.  Some pictures were taken in places outside of my yard because that was where I was able to get the better picture.  It formerly was thought necessary to kill and preserve butterflies in order to identify the species.  Now field guides are designed to identify without catching.
